- Abstract
The research was carried out at CV. ABC, a furniture manufacturing company that produces various types of furniture such as window frames, bed frames, chairs, and others. The common problem found in the company is the inability to meet production targets within the predetermined time frame. These problems arise due to inefficient production flows caused by irregular placement of workstations, back- tracking, and long distances between stations. To address these issues, the production floor layout was redesigned using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and BLOCPLAN algorithms. The results showed that the total material handling distance in the actual layout, which was 137.8 meters, could be reduced to 91.5 meters. The total displacement moment also decreased from 38,132.30 meters/month to 26,203.00 meters/month. In addition, the redesigned layout produced the highest line efficiency rate of 83.05% and was able to increase the average production output by 31.83% using the ACO method as the featured layout solution.
