- Abstract
This study aims to analyse the management strategies of the “Bersinar Waste Bank Cooperative” in adopting technological innovations in the digital era. Amid the increasing complexity of environmental issues, community-based waste management has become a strategic approach to promote circular economy practices. The Bersinar Waste Bank is an environmental cooperative that has implemented digital systems such as SMASH.id and collaborated with digital financial platforms to enhance operational efficiency and transaction transparency. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method, with data collection conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and literature studies from international scientific journals. The results indicate that digitalization contributes to improved coordination, community participation, and accuracy in waste recording. Additionally, collaborative programs such as “Pay for Electricity/Water with Waste” have proven to encourage community involvement in waste management practices. However, challenges remain, including limited human resources, low digital literacy, and the persistent belief that waste management is solely the government’s responsibility. This study recommends strengthening human resource capacity, developing adaptive education, and fostering cross-sector partnerships as strategies to realize a sustainable and responsive waste bank cooperative in the digital era.
