Abstract

This study aims to explore how conventional savings and loan cooperatives can strengthen the local creativepreneurship ecosystem by providing financial access, supporting business development, and connecting collaborative networks. Within the context of a community-based economy, cooperatives have the potential to be strategic actors in driving the growth of the creative sector, particularly in areas with limited access to formal financial institutions. This study highlights the importance of revitalizing cooperatives to adapt to the increasingly dynamic needs of creative entrepreneurs. This study employed a qualitative approach, employing in-depth interviews with cooperative administrators who had interacted directly with members working as creative entrepreneurs. The interview results were analyzed using thematic techniques to identify relevant patterns of meaning. Findings indicate that cooperatives provide easy access to collateral-based capital, which has been shown to help small businesses maintain their business continuity. However, support for capacity building, such as training or business incubation, has not been an integral part of cooperative services in general. This study concludes that for cooperatives to play a more significant role in building the creativepreneurship ecosystem, structural and cultural reforms are necessary. These efforts could include strengthening human resource competencies, developing educational programs relevant to the needs of the creative industry, and expanding cross-sector partnership networks. With these strategies, cooperatives can develop into centers for driving a sustainable creative economy based on the values of community togetherness.
