- Abstract
Education is one of the essential needs for human life after the fulfillment of basic needs. This raises a question of how the sustainability of quality education provided by educational institutions in coastal areas affected by tidal floods is, especially Islamic educational institutions where the majority of the surrounding community are Muslims. Is education still important or has it been replaced by other needs? This research aims to: 1) analyze how the adaptive strategies of Islamic education institutions in coastal areas are in maintaining the continuity and sustainability of quality education and 2) analyze the impact of tidal flooding on the sustainability of quality education. This research is qualitative research with descriptive explanation. The data in this research are collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies and literature studies. It is expected that the results of this research reveal how Islamic education institutions carry out various kinds of adaptive strategies to deal with tidal floods as well as how such strategies are conducted to ensure the sustainability of quality education.
