Abstract

PT Pura Barutama Rotogravure Unit 3 has developed an innovative cigarette packaging image randomization machine to address frequent human errors in the image randomization process. The main goal of this project was to create a control panel for the machine. The research used literature review, interviews, and experimental methods. The experimental process involved assembling the control panel, understanding how the machine operates, creating wiring diagrams, installing panel components, and testing the control system. The control panel works by pressing a push button (PB), which activates both the main conveyor and conveyor 1, moving cigarette packages onto the main conveyor. A sensor on conveyor 1 counts five packages before it stops and activates conveyor 2. This process continues through to conveyor 5. Once all five conveyors have transferred their packages and the main counter reaches 250 packages, the main conveyor temporarily stops based on a timer. After the timer ends, the system resets and the cycle repeats. Tests were conducted on conveyors 1 through 5 and the main conveyor. Each conveyor performed correctly without errors. The main conveyor sensor successfully detected passing packages, as indicated by the counter. In conclusion, the cigarette packaging image randomization machine performed successfully and met its intended purpose.
