Abstract

This study explores the influencing factors of romantic relationships among Chinese college graduates. Based on Stenberg’s triangle of love theory (passion, intimacy, commitment), the factors of the impact of these three dimensions were analyzed through semi-structured interviews to 14 participants (seven heterosexual couples). The study has found that geographical distance has a significant impact on intimacy, and being far away may lead to a decrease in trust and warmth, while network communication technology only partially alleviates this problem. The importance of passion decreases in long-term relationships, and commitment gradually weakens. The study emphasizes that graduates place greater emphasis on individual growth in balancing their careers and relationships, providing a framework for coping with relationship decision-making under graduation pressure.
