Abstract

This study examines the enduring impact of systemic racial discrimination in the United States, focusing on economic and educational inequalities faced by the Black community. Rooted in the historical legacy of slavery and institutionalized racism, these disparities continue to shape social and economic outcomes. The research adopts a secondary data analysis, analyzing historical documents, legal frameworks, and contemporary examples to trace the evolution and persistence of racial inequality. Findings reveal that despite formal legal abolition of slavery and civil rights advancements, structural mechanisms such as redlining, discriminatory lending, and segregated education have perpetuated economic marginalization and limited educational opportunities for Black Americans. The study concludes that these historic policies and practices have created deep-rooted disparities that persist today, reinforcing racial hierarchies and social stratification. It calls for increased public awareness and targeted policy interventions to address these systemic inequalities and promote social justice and equity in American society. By linking past injustices to present-day outcomes, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of how racialized institutions continue to shape the American social structure.
