Abstract

Circular Economy (CE) has attracted significant attention from scholars, industry, and policymakers because of its growing importance in promoting the joint development of economic and environmental well-being. CE offers collaborative reuse, reduction, and recycling activities that foster sustainable business practices and environmental stewardship. Although the number of publications on CE has increased exponentially between 2005 and 2023, only a limited number specifically addresses the implementation of CE and its impact on the socio-economic sector in Asia. Most CE literature focuses on the European region and China. Consequently, this study aimed to map the thematic structure of CE research by examining research outputs about CE implementation and its effects on Asia socio-economic sectors. The methodology employed is bibliometric analysis utilizing data from Scopus from 2005 to 2023. Various descriptive and bibliographic maps were generated using VOS Viewer to visualize the findings. The presented analyses elucidate the socio-economic perspective of CE. Ultimately, eight clusters were identified, which can be utilized to explain the future implications of the circular economy on socioeconomics.
