- Abstract
With the rapid development of the game industry, more and more studies have begun to focus on the impact of video games on mental health. Among them, “Dead Cells”, as a highly difficult action platform game, has received extensive attention due to its unique game mechanism and challenge. This article seeks to examine the particular influence of “Dead Cells” on players’ mental health, particularly its possible contributions to increasing psychological resilience, alleviating stress, and bolstering self-efficacy. This study examines the correlation between the game mechanics of “Dead Cells” and players’ psychological states through literature review and online data analysis, and it highlights the game’s effects on mental health. Studies show that “Dead Cells” can not only enhance players’ psychological resilience, but also effectively relieve stress and increase self-efficacy. The “punishing but fair” mechanics of Death Cell (such as procedurally generated levels and permanent death) promote psychological resilience through controlled failure, while its rhythmic combat design serves as an attention allocation strategy to alleviate player stress.
