- Abstract
In the contemporary landscape, the evolution of convergent journalism is characterized by a complex dynamic between global instability and technological advancement, revealing a paradoxical and interwoven trajectory. While technological innovation fuels progress, it simultaneously introduces constraints through risks of misuse and cultural divides. This study utilizes VOSviewer visualization software to examine 460 research articles on convergent journalism from the Web of Science database, covering the period from 2000 to 2025. It offers a systematic overview of temporal patterns, geographic dispersion, emerging frontiers, and scholarly networks within the field. The results indicate that international publications on convergent journalism follow a sequential pattern of “slow inception, rapid expansion, and fluctuating refinement.” Geographically, research activity is predominantly clustered in Europe and the Americas, with the United States and Spain serving as central hubs.Academic collaboration displays a tendency toward “regional clustering amid global fragmentation,” with no tightly-knit institutional network yet established. Thematic interests initially centered on digital convergence, social media, and citizen journalism, but have since expanded to include rising domains like artificial intelligence and disinformation, driven by technological advances.
