Abstract

The construction of Emerging Engineering Education (3E) places higher-order demands on the core competencies of professionals in electronic information majors. Addressing the core issues of strong abstraction in teaching the Smith Chart and weak engineering practical ability among students in the “Microwave Technology and Antennas” course, this paper innovatively applies the O-PIRTAS flipped classroom model to the teaching reform of this knowledge module. The scheme is oriented towards student competency output and systematically designs a closed-loop teaching process covering seven stages: Objective, Preparation, Instructional video, Review, Test, Activity, and Summary. Relying on information technology means (micro-lectures, simulation software, online tools), it strengthens pre-class independent exploration and in-depth classroom interaction, achieving synergistic improvement of knowledge internalization and practical ability. Teaching practice shows that this scheme effectively enhances students’ depth of understanding of Smith Chart principles, impedance matching design ability, self-learning initiative, and teamwork awareness, aligning with the goal of cultivating innovative and interdisciplinary engineering technical talents in Emerging Engineering Education.
