Abstract

The aspect of sustainability of the spiritual destinations cannot be over emphasized in an attempt to sustain cultural heritage as well as the long-term amenities leading to the sustained social economic benefits to the local communities. This study attempts to study and explain the key issues affecting the sustainability of spiritual destination in the case of Odisha in India. This paper combines classification and prediction models in the process of identifying and evaluating the main determinants that affect the sustainability of these sacred sites. Socio-cultural, environmental, and economic indicators are used in an overall comprehensive dataset used in analysis. The paper uses sophisticated machine learning-based classification modelling approaches to extract important variables to influence the sustainable development in the form of spiritual destination. Also, prediction models are used to predict possible upcoming trends and outcomes with regard to sustainability. The paper also looks into the influence of the motives, facilities, marketing mixed languages, religious, and governance on the sustainability of some spiritual destinations of Odisha State. The results of this paper are important with regards to the formation and establishment of spiritual destinations in Odisha. The findings will guide sustainable tourism patterns, resource use and policy making towards the preservation of the special culture and the ecological integrity of the spiritual sites. Finally, this study should help to contribute to sustainability and sustainable development of spiritual sites in Odisha, as well as to the development of responsible tourism and positive well-being of the locations and everyone surrounding them.
