Abstract

The difference in quality of education between urban and rural areas of India often stems from the insufficient integration of the socio-cultural and economic contexts of the latter, leading to inadequate skill development and an unfulfilled promise of opportunities for our rural communities. This research investigates the effectiveness of applying user experience (UX) design principles to develop an adaptive learning ecosystem that promotes exposure to entrepreneurial opportunities for rural individuals. The study employs qualitative techniques such as policy document analysis, case study analysis, and the examination of existing UX frameworks to construct an empathy map, a journey map, and a set of personas for prototyping a learning platform especially suited to rural learners. The study’s key finding is that an interactive, community-rich, UX-driven learning platform that features micro-entrepreneurship modules as part of its core content dramatically ramps up the engagement of rural learners and their participation in local economies. The investigation arrived at the conclusion that the traditional educational models in India are incapable of attending to the kind of diversity that stems from the country’s varied socio-economic conditions. This research proposes that a UX-driven learning model can empower rural communities by promoting inclusive education and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship. The research provides feasible design directions that can be used for large-scale implementation, contributing to both sustainable rural development and skill empowerment.
