Abstract

AI is revolutionising the modes of second language acquisition. It familiarises the learners to innovative, adaptive, and comprehensible educational resources. Duolingo, Grammarly, and ChatGPT among other platforms provide personalised instructional pathways that are tailored according to each learner’s distinct needs. This results in a substantial increase in the learner’s engagement resulting in enhanced language acquisition. Duolingo implements interactive and customised activities to strengthen vocabulary along with grammatical proficiency and encourages continuous learner engagement. Grammarly facilitates writing skills through prompt and relatable suggestions and modifications, promoting clearer and more fluent formulations. ChatGPT assists learners through engaging in real-time interaction and evaluation, which supports development in a comfortable environment and stimulation. AI-powered tools have thus constructed multiple pathways to accessible English language learning worldwide, primarily for those belonging to areas that lack in adequate educational resources. Through quick responses and innovative learning modes, these tools motivate learners towards self-directed acquisition along with sustained development. In addition, AI is projected to enable more rapid acquisition through the incorporation of audio-visuals and greater accessibility. With the growing use of these tools, they have the promising potential to essentially overcome language barriers, while also striving for learner empowerment, and completely transforming English education globally.
