Abstract

This article broadly examines cybersecurity approaches in the protection and development of the creative economy and tourism in the digital era in Pamekasan Regency. The rapid development of information technology in communications has made it easier to access information anytime and anywhere. The internet, which is a giant computer network, has connected all points in various countries. This has become the forerunner of information flows that are very easy to obtain, even across regions and countries. This development in information technology has had a significant impact in terms of changing human behavior. In addition to facilitating communication, this development also carries risks. In Indonesia, increased internet access and usage has expanded the reach and impact of cyber attacks. Based on the Interpol Cyber Assessment Report 2021, there were approximately 2.7 million ransomware attacks detected in Southeast Asia during the period January-September 2020, with Indonesia ranking at the top with 1.3 million cases. Then, based on data from the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, there has been a drastic increase in the number of cybercrime cases handled. In 2022, there were 8,831 cybercrime cases prosecuted, a 14-fold increase compared to 2021, where only 612 cases were prosecuted. In addition, research from Fortinet revealed that ransomware cyber attacks in Indonesia doubled during 2023. Based on this, it is important to look at the legal aspects of cyber security, especially the role of local governments in making policies on the protection and development of creative economic enterprises in the digital era, so that various legal issues or legal identifications related to cyber security can be identified and policies on cyber security protection for creative economic and tourism businesses in Pamekasan Regency can be formulated. The object of this study is the approach to cybersecurity in the protection and development of the creative economy and tourism in the digital era in Pamekasan Regency. How does the local government play a role in cybersecurity protection in the development of the creative economy and tourism in Pamekasan Regency.
