- Abstract
This research examines the differences between artificial intelligence (AI) and humans within the context of Heideggerian existentialism, particularly concerning the concepts of Being and inauthenticity. AI, which operates through algorithms and communication systems, is viewed as an entity capable of interacting and fulfilling Harold Lasswell’s functional communication model, yet it remains trapped in inauthenticity due to the lack of reflective consciousness. While AI can engage in the communication process, it does not grasp the deeper meanings behind each message, fundamentally distinguishing it from humans. From Heidegger’s perspective, humans have the potential to achieve authenticity through meaningful communication, whether through intrapersonal reflection or social interaction. Human communication involves existential depth and an awareness of being, which AI cannot attain. Therefore, existential awareness and the ability to construct meaning through authentic interaction become the main dividing line between humans and AI in the realm of existence.
