Abstract

This study explores the role of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in enhancing creativity and fostering sustainable business practices in the educational sector. As businesses face increasing sustainability challenges, there is a growing need to prepare students with the skills necessary to develop innovative solutions. Despite the recognised potential of PBL in promoting creativity, its direct influence on cultivating sustainable business practices remains underexplored. The aim of this study is to develop a conceptual framework that seeks to understand the relationship between PBL, creativity, and sustainable business practices. Using a narrative review methodology, this research analyses existing literature on PBL, creativity, and sustainability in business education. The findings suggest a conceptual framework that illustrates how PBL enhances creativity through real-world problem-solving, transdisciplinary collaboration, and the integration of innovative pedagogies, such as gamification. These creative skills are essential for addressing complex sustainability challenges in business. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of incorporating PBL into business education as a core pedagogical strategy to foster the creativity required for sustainable innovations. Future research should focus on empirically testing this framework and exploring the long-term impact of PBL on business sustainability outcomes.
