Abstract

Commissioning of ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in metro stations is essential for operational readiness but faces significant challenges, including tight schedules, high workloads, and frequent failures. This paper analyzes three typical commissioning issues encountered in a provincial capital metro project: (1) cooling water return failure in deeply buried stations, (2) malfunction of manual smoke exhaust fan control via the Integrated Backup Panel (IBP), and (3) ambiguous intermediate position settings for modulating motorized dampers. Combining theoretical analysis with on-site measurements, the root causes are identified, and validated solutions are proposed. Key corrective measures include installing pressure-gauge-equipped air vents at pipeline high points, redesigning pipe elevation differences to prevent air entrapment, implementing integrated fan-damper control logic with hardware interlocks, and determining damper positions through on-site airflow calibration. These solutions effectively resolved the specific issues and offer actionable guidance for commissioning similar metro HVAC systems.
