Abstract

The issue of aging injustice in communities arising from urban renewal in China has become increasingly prominent. Unreasonable allocation of physical community space, marginalization of the elderly due to the value orientation of capital enterprises, and the lack of community living facilities and barrier-free infrastructure all exacerbate aging injustice, necessitating urgent solutions. To better adapt to the trend of social aging and align with the aging-friendly policies outlined in China's 14th Five-Year Plan, this paper analyzes and summarizes the causes of aging injustice in communities within the context of urban renewal over the past five years. It also examines the theoretical underpinnings and explores how stakeholders—including government departments, social workers, and enterprises—can leverage social work expertise to address a series of issues related to aging injustice. Researching aging injustice not only refines future age-friendly initiatives and provides case-based insights for regions with inadequate aging services but also equips social work professionals to address these challenges more rationally, scientifically, and effectively, laying a solid foundation for future interventions.
