- Abstract
The Yuan Dynasty was the first unified dynasty in Chinese history established by a minority ethnic group. The architectural style of this period not only played a bridging role but also deeply integrated Mongolian grassland culture, Central Plains culture, and foreign cultures, forming a unique era style. The roof decoration was the most splendid part of the building, which not only had its own functions but also directly reflected the distinct aesthetic style and ethnic cultural characteristics of the times. This article systematically analyzes and summarizes the art and culture of roof decoration in Yuan Dynasty architecture by selecting typical cases of Yuan Dynasty buildings, from the perspective of the background of the times, decorative techniques, and cultural integration. It provides valuable references for the restoration of classical architecture and the innovative design of new buildings with Chinese elements.
