- Abstract
This paper uses Yunnan Province as a case study. It examines the integration mechanisms and coordinated development of comprehensive transportation and tourism. The paper builds a “mechanism-evaluation” framework and analyses the interactive feedback mechanisms within these two sectors, as well as external driving factors such as policy, the economy, society, and technology. An integrated evaluation system is also set up. This system covers transportation service capacity and tourism development levels. The study employs the Entropy Weighted TOPSIS method and the Coupling Coordination Model. An empirical analysis is conducted on the integration level of transportation and tourism from 2014 to 2023. The results show that Yunnan’s transportation-tourism coupling degree remains high throughout this period, and its coordination level improves gradually. The system is highly resilient. It evolves from “interactive symbiosis” to “high-efficiency synergy”. Key barriers to integration vary at different stages. In the early stage, transportation challenges mainly lie in railway supply and demand imbalances, as well as insufficient network coverage. Later on, problems focus on aviation capacity, route layout, and supply and demand matching. This study provides theoretical and practical support for the integration of transport and tourism in multi-ethnic border regions. Future research should expand the range of comparative cases, delve deeper into mechanism analysis, extend the study period, and explore avenues such as “transportation + smart tourism”.
