- Abstract
During her time in the United States, Eileen Chang tried to open up foreign markets with English writing, and her creation was committed to retaining Chinese cultural characteristics while being close to the acceptance habits of English readers, which provided an important perspective for studying her later turnaround of creation. What is particularly important is that Eileen Chang spent ten years repeatedly translating and revising The Golden Cangue, publishing the novel Yuan-nv and its English version The Rouge of the North. This article focuses on these two works, combines the correspondence of Eileen Chang, Song Kuang, C.T.Hsia and others to sort out the creative process, analyzes and discusses the strategies and adjustments of Chinese and English versions in plot adaptation, language conversion and cultural transmission, and strives to explore the multiple reasons for the difficulty of publishing works abroad while seeing their unique value.
