Abstract

The global financial crisis in 2008 had a far-reaching impact on the banking industry, prompting the international banking system to carry out profound risk management reform. Taking JP Morgan Chase as a case, this study systematically discusses the evolution, implementation effect and limitations of management and control strategies in the three core areas of credit risk, liquidity risk and market risk during the subsequent financial crisis. It is found that JPMorgan Chase has significantly improved its risk resilience and financial stability by strengthening credit standards, optimizing its asset-liability structure, building a real-time risk monitoring system and strictly abiding by the international regulatory framework represented by Basel III. However, under the new environment of the rise of financial technology, rising regulatory costs and increasing global market linkage, its traditional risk management model is also facing adaptive challenges. This study further refines its enlightenment to global banking risk management, emphasizing the importance of "risk first" culture, dynamic capital and liquidity management mechanism, and actively embracing supervision and industry reform.
