Abstract

The waste heat boiler has been extensive application following the implementation of the national ‘dual reduction’ policy. However, certain installations may experience uneven subsidence due to inadequate foundations and substantial load. The effects of uneven foundation settlement on the structural integrity of boiler steel structures are relatively complex. Moreover, the ‘Specification for Design of Boiler Steel Structures’ does not clearly define the analytical principles or methodologies necessary for addressing these challenges. This study utilized MIDAS finite element software to conduct a numerical analysis of the mechanical performance of boiler steel structures under uneven settlement. The focus was on examining the internal force distribution and variation patterns of key components before and after settlement. The results indicate that uneven settlement significantly increases stress at the base of the boiler steel columns. Under the allowable settlement value of 0.005L specified by the code, the stress at the base of the boiler steel columns increased by approximately 200%, and there is a change in the sign of the bending moment.
