Abstract

The limited access to energy in remote areas and the global shift toward sustainable energy sources present a significant challenge in modern energy technology. This research presents the design and implementation of an embedded system-based control and monitoring system for off-grid mini–Solar Power Plants (PLTS). The system leverages IoT technology, integrating LoRa communication for its long-range, low- power data transmission capabilities, with Home Assistant for real-time monitoring and automated control. It monitors critical parameters such as voltage, current, battery state of charge (SOC), and load consumption in real time. The proposed system addresses key limitations of existing off-grid PLTS monitoring solutions, which often depend on internet connectivity and lack adaptive control features. Experimental results demonstrate the system's effectiveness, showing a communication latency of under one second and a packet loss rate below 1%. Furthermore, it supports automatic load shedding based on the battery's SOC, optimizing energy usage, and extending battery life. This study contributes to the development of efficient, scalable, and cost-effective energy management solutions for remote communities without grid access, supporting the broader goals of sustainable energy development.
