Abstract

The present paper explores the factors influencing healthcare use among internal migrant workers in the textile industry, using Andersen’s Behavioural Model. Such workers as migrant labourers are highly dependent on seasonal employment and often exploited by employers, and experience adverse conditions associated with migration. The current study aims to determine the predisposing, enabling, and need factors that influence healthcare access among migrant workers in the textile industry. The results of the present study revealed a significant number of private healthcare facilities used by participants despite their low socioeconomic status. Accordingly, the current results indicate that healthcare access among these workers remains insufficient despite the high level of need. The results contribute to an improved understanding of the phenomenon by recognising the gap in healthcare utilisation by migrant workers. Notably, the results highlight the importance of ensuring adequate healthcare access for this population group, a need that requires appropriate policies to provide affordable, accessible healthcare services.
