The 2nd ICAE on “Redefining Growth: Integrating Economy, Society, and Sustainability for a Resilient Future” was held on 25–26 February 2026 at the Delhi NCR Campus of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute. This edition of the conference brought together economists, policy practitioners, and researchers from India and abroad to examine how economic growth can be reconciled with the demands of ecological sustainability and social equity. The proceedings reflect the participants’ deliberations on these contemporary topics.

The conference drew close to two hundred participants, students, research scholars, faculty, and policymakers across more than twenty thematic technical sessions, plenary discussions, and panel debates. It opened with keynote addresses by Professor David Wuepper (University of Bonn) and Dr. Majo George (Dean, Faculty of Economics, International University). It included a special address on macroeconomic policy by Ms. Gurvinder Kaur, Joint Director (Macro), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, alongside contributions from Professor Rakesh Mohan Joshi (Vice Chancellor, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi) and Dr. Arvind (Director General, V. V. Giri National Labour Institute). It concluded with a valedictory session and the presentation of best paper awards.

The conference would not have been successful without the contributions of the various individuals and institutions. Our sincere thanks to all the keynote and invited speakers for their valuable contributions, to all the authors and presenters for actively participating, and to all the committees for actively curating the agenda and contributing to the smooth planning of the conference. None of this would have been possible without the sustained effort of the conference’s session chairs and discussants, whose engagement sharpened every paper in this volume, and the review committee, whose evaluations upheld the rigour expected of this series. We are grateful to the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute for its collaboration, to the leadership and administration of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) for its institutional support. We are thankful to all the volunteers for their support in coordinating offline and online sessions.

We look forward to building on these contributions in the next editions.

This volume presents selected papers from the conference, reflecting various themes such as health, environment, education, labour and AI, tourism, fiscal discipline, ESG disclosures, circular economy, and remittances, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the conference. Each of these papers addresses contemporary topics within relevant themes.

We hope that this volume serves as a useful reference for scholars, students, and policymakers engaged with the economics of sustainable and inclusive growth and that it contributes, in whatever modest way, to the wider conversation on redefining growth for a resilient future.
