- Abstract
Food security is a problem that is a concern for all countries in the world. To overcome this problem, several countries, including Indonesia, formed and agreed on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program, one of the goals of which is to end hunger, achieve food security and better nutrition, and support sustainable agriculture. One effort to achieve this goal is by implementing an organic farming system. There are several obstacles experienced by farmers in implementing organic farming systems, such as decreased productivity during the transition period, small market share, and an unsupportive environment so that farmers return to implementing conventional farming systems. The Bangkit Merbabu Farmers Group is one of the farmer groups that has successfully carried out its role as a means of empowering farmers and has successfully led farmers to implement organic farming systems. The Bangkit Merbabu group was able to face the obstacles it experienced so that it succeeded in implementing an organic farming system and has national and international organic certificates. Based on this, the author can formulate a research objective, namely finding a transformation strategy from a non-organic farming system to a sustainable organic farming system. The research was conducted at the Bangkit Merbabu Farmers Group, Batur Village, Getasan District, Semarang Regency. The research was carried out using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation as well as qualitative data analysis using SWOT analysis and descriptive analysis. From the research results it can be concluded that 1. Strengths include a close sense of kinship between members, never complaining, a high desire to learn, strong religious beliefs, wise leaders, and broad relationships. 2. Opportunities include: intensive assistance, government policies, supporting natural factors, as well as third parties (organik vegetable buyers and companions). 3. Weaknesses include: a long transition period (decrease in productivity), inappropriate leadership changes, and the relatively young age of farmers. 4. Threats include: social influence from the environment, erratic weather, and natural disasters (covid). The Bangkit Merbabu Farmers Group is able to minimize weaknesses and threats with the right steps so that it can achieve its goals. Recommended strategies that need to be added include: government policy to encourage millennial farmers, leadership training for prospective farmer group leaders, education on the advantages of organik vegetables to consumers, expanding the market share of organik commodities, and increasing community empowerment regarding organik management of pests and plant diseases.
