- Abstract
The People's Palm Oil Replanting Program (PSR) in Central Kalimantan has the potential to realize a circular economy through integrated agricultural activities between replanting oil palm plants with corn, laying hens, and organic fertilizer applications. This study aims to analyze the role of institutions in realizing a circular economy in these integrated agricultural activities. The research method is desriptive study approach. Data collection are conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The results showed that institutions play a very important role in realizing circular economy activities in integrated farm business system activities carried out by farmer groups which include facilitation, regulation, coordination, education, and funding. Integrated farming system activities initiate the emergence of economic activities in the form of production of fresh fruit bunches from superior seed palm plants, corn production between oil palm replanting plants, egg production made from local feed and organic fertilizer production. The economic activity raised is as an alternative income for oil palm farmers before the oil palm plant produces. This has an impact on increasing farmers’ income > 50%, reducing environmental pollution and sustainable farming activities with a sustainable index of 86.10%. The conclusion is that institutions have significant contribution and its need to be maintained and increased to support the success of the PSR program and realize a sustainable circular economy in Central Kalimantan.
