- Abstract
By exploring the link between occupational stress and quiet quitting in Kerala’s private nursing sector, this study provides an original contribution to healthcare scholarship, with particular attention to the mediating role of job satisfaction. Data collected from 304 nurses were analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The analysis confirms that elevated stress levels substantially increase the likelihood of disengagement, while higher job satisfaction mitigates this relationship. In practical terms, these outcomes underscore the need for healthcare leaders and policymakers to prioritise stress management and strengthen job satisfaction initiatives as strategies for reducing quiet quitting and improving nurse retention in private healthcare institutions.
