Abstract

This paper explores the feasibility of implementing Blue-Green economic models within the ecotourism sector in Eastern Indonesia, with a focus on local wisdom and sustainable development practices. By integrating the principles of Blue-Green Economics, which emphasize the synergy between marine (blue) and terrestrial (green) ecosystems, this research highlight case studies from regions rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. The study examines how traditional ecological knowledge and local customs contribute to sustainable ecotourism, ensuring both environmental preservation and economic benefit for local communities. Through a qualitative approach involving field observations and interviews, this paper assesses the challenges and opportunities in aligning ecotourism practices with sustainable economic models. The finding suggests that leveraging local wisdom and fostering community-based ecotourism can enhance environmental resilience while supporting long-term economic viability in the region. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the potential for Blue-Green Economic integration in Indonesia’s growing ecotourism industry, offering insight for policymakers and stakeholders interested in sustainable development.
