Abstract

The paper presents the cyber physical system prototype to demonstrate the application of IoT technology towards the water management system in the urban scenario. The project involves development of a physical prototype which includes a water reservoir and four outlet taps which act as user nodes. The outlet tap or nodes represent end user (resemblance of flow) where various sensors are integrated to monitor the quality and usage of water. The water usage and quality monitoring are most essential for every household in urban scenario. This could conserve water inculcating accountability among users and prevent humans from contaminated water by providing real time measure of the quality of the water they consume. The sensors at each node include flow rate sensor to monitor the water usage and quality sensors like pH, TDS and turbidity. An IoT framework based on LoRaWAN is created to connect the sensor nodes to the server which host the dashboard. Various features are incorporated to reward the user with parameters on the dashboard, the addition of features are in progress on the prototype. The key outcome in the integrated prototype where such advanced technology could be tested.
