- Abstract
The most fatal natural disasters, as many as 50,000 people occur every year based on research by the International Disaster Data Base, where the natural disasters occurred from 2010 to 2018. Indonesia on July 29, 2018 experienced an earthquake precisely in West Nusa Tenggara which caused many casualties, severe damage and heavy losses. BNPB said the total loss reached Rp 12.15 trillion. This study uses the application of the theory of Multilevel Governance in earthquake disaster mitigation and response in West Nusa Tenggara (Lombok), This approach provides an opportunity for sub-national actors to determine appropriate policies in accordance with the context and social, economic, and political conditions in their regions. Which ultimately creates a more resilient society to future disaster risks.
