- Abstract
Coffee beans are essential material standard for coffee making. Before processed for consumed, the first step must be done is sorting. The purpose of sorting is to separate coffee beans by the size or destroyed or broken beans. This process is imperative for better tasting of coffee drinks. For most of most coffee makers, this process is done manually, namely by sieving and move horizontally using hands. This process is so slow and takes time, so it needs a sorting machine to speed up the sorting process. The results of designing and constructing of the machine is a machine with dimensions of 700 mm in length, 700 mm in width and 900 mm in height with capacity of filtering is 1.205 kg/hour. The total success of this machine's performance is 99.86% for 50 kg of sorted coffee beans with details that can be measured by the machine's performance index, namely 65.24% for coffee beans filtered with 6 mm meshing, 25.42% for 5 mm meshing and 9.20% for 4 mm meshing.
