- Abstract
This study investigates the potential for implementing a digital management system in the small-scale fisheries sector of Darunu Village, a coastal community characterized by traditional fishing practices. Using a descriptive-quantitative approach supported by qualitative data, the research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the existing conditions and assess opportunities for digital integration in marine resource governance. Data were collected from all active fishers in the village (n = 15) through structured interviews, questionnaires, and field observations, supplemented by secondary data from governmental and meteorological agencies. Findings reveal that current operations are short-term oriented, constrained by limited fuel budgets, and hindered by the absence of systematic catch documentation, structured distribution channels, and historical records for planning. Institutional weaknesses, including the lack of cooperatives and inadequate infrastructure, further limit coordination, transparency, and resilience against climate variability. Nonetheless, fishers expressed willingness to adopt digital tools and participate in training programs. The study concludes that a hybrid digital-manual system, combined with institutional strengthening and supportive regulation, offers a viable pathway toward more efficient, accountable, and sustainable fisheries management.
