- Abstract
In today's digital era, fonts are no longer merely typographic tools but also valuable digital assets that support the global creative economy. This study analyzes the implications of font copyright infringement in the digital era on market dynamics and graphic design ethics. Using normative legal research methods through case studies, this research examines three cases of font copyright infringement in Indonesia. The findings show that although fonts face inherent legal protection ambiguities and vulnerabilities in the digital market facilitated by easy replication, non-litigation settlements (negotiation or mediation) have proven effective in providing financial compensation to creators. These cases also significantly shape professional ethics in the graphic design industry, raise awareness of licensing, and highlight the role of digital communities and reputational pressures in driving compliance. Theoretically, this study enriches the understanding of the application of IPR to digital assets and its interaction with the market. Practically, the results provide guidance for type designers, graphic designers, and policymakers to support a more equitable and sustainable design ecosystem.
