Abstract

There are so many people still stuck in such a narrow definition of religion, which is often supported by groups on the fringe who abhor difference. This paper was written to analyze the commitment of national in declaration-making regarding religious moderation as evident on Entrop Village and Hinekombe Vilage. The Sentani State Christian College came up with the Religious Moderation Village Declaration, therefore an initiative to strengthen national commitment in religious moderation. Qualitative analysis of the research themes: This is a qualitative study. This approach is able to sort and dive deeply into the experience, perspective, meaning as well as realization of national commitment by declaring religious moderation at village level. Study results showed that support from Sentani State Christian College and the government in two villages, Hinekombe Village and Entrop village were (i) promoting religious moderation through Focus Group Discussions or FGDs; interfaith dialogues; as well as by doing real action of moderations within their community which was excellent for a conducive climate of governance to build harmony. Religious Moderation Village Program it is a tangible model for application and implementation of the values of religious moderation, thereby emphasizing that modest moderateness itself is in fact an all-round responsibility. Supported by religious and community leaders, the government on his programme to put a firm base for durable harmony and peace.
