Abstract

The background of this research is that there is no accompanying band practice schedule, the song chords are still not uniform between players. Then, when the song is sung, the worship uses his fingers to control the deliver of the song. This means that coding is a communication tool between worship leaders, musicians and singers. Apart from that, this research also aims to describe the development of expressive worship within the scope of GKE Maranatha Banjarbaru. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research was carried out through four activities that occurred simultaneously, namely data collection presentation and conclusion, drawing or verification. The results of the research are that the use of bands as accompanying music is regulated in a coordinated by youth as Band Coordinators. Rehearsals are held three times a week, and preparatory rehearsals are held on Fridays. The congregation’s response welcomed the use of band to accompany expressive worship. Expressive worship at GKE Maranatha is held on the first and third weeks of every month. The liturgy used continues to use the regular service liturgy forms I and III. Basically, GKE has not lost its characteristic as a Formal-Liturgical Worship church.
