We are delighted to present the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Citizenship Education and Democratic Issues (ICCEDI) 2026, hosted by the Law and Citizenship Department, Faculty of Social Science, Universitas Negeri Malang. Held on July 18, 2026, in a hybrid format, ICCEDI 2026 provides an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, educators, researchers, practitioners, and students to exchange ideas and critically examine contemporary challenges in citizenship, education, law, culture, and politics. The conference is organized under the theme "Building Indonesian Resilience Amid Global Threats: Citizenship, Education, Law, Culture, and Politics in Facing Existential Crises."

Contemporary citizenship and democratic life are confronted by interconnected challenges, including social crises, global tensions, environmental change, technological disruption, economic uncertainty, and transformations in political and cultural life. These conditions require strengthened civic capacity, critical awareness, social responsibility, and meaningful democratic participation. Citizenship education therefore has an important role in preparing citizens who are able to understand public issues, respect diversity, uphold law and human rights, and contribute constructively to democratic processes. ICCEDI 2026 offers a space to explore these challenges through interdisciplinary perspectives and to connect academic inquiry with practical responses for building social resilience.

The conference addresses seven thematic areas: Indonesian Citizenship and Identity; Education as a Pillar of Peace; Legal Framework for Disaster Prevention; Cultural Narratives and Conflict; Political Strategies for De-escalation; Crisis Crossroads: Climate, Technology, and Socio-Economic Factors; and Young Generations and the Future. Together, these themes highlight the importance of strengthening resilience, social cohesion, democratic citizenship, and responsible responses to complex crises.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all authors, presenters, participants, reviewers, speakers, partners, and members of the organizing committee for their valuable contributions to ICCEDI 2026. We also appreciate the support of Universitas Negeri Malang and all institutions involved in fostering academic collaboration and international scholarly exchange. Their dedication has contributed significantly to the success of this conference.

We hope that the ideas, research findings, and discussions presented in these proceedings will contribute to the advancement of scholarship in citizenship education and democratic studies, inspire further research and innovative educational practices, and encourage constructive policy dialogue. May ICCEDI 2026 strengthen our collective understanding of resilience and support meaningful responses to the complex challenges facing Indonesian society and the global community.
