- Abstract
The VANETs have the ability to significantly increase road safety and traffic efficiency through real-time data interchange. Their distinct features, such as erratic connectivity, changeable network topologies, and susceptibility to security risks, present significant difficulties, nevertheless. For dependable data delivery in these changing situations, routing techniques are crucial. This article offers a thorough analysis of several routing techniques designed specifically for VANETs, grouping them into topology-based, location-based, cluster-based, broadcast, and geocast strategies. Every category is thoroughly examined, with an emphasis on its general fit for VANET systems as well as its operational principles, advantages, and disadvantages. A comparison analysis is provided to show how well each strategy performs in various network scenarios and provide information on the benefits and drawbacks of each. Additionally, the paper highlights and talks about the unresolved research issues and possible paths forward in the VANET routing sector. This work intends to support the continuous development and implementation of reliable and effective VANET communication systems by offering a systematic review of current routing protocols and pointing out topics for further study.
