- Abstract
The design and simulation of a small quad-band microstrip antenna for WLAN (2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz) and WiMAX (3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz) applications are shown in this work. The antenna may achieve four resonant frequencies thanks to its rectangular patch, two symmetrical L-shaped stubs, and defective ground structure (DGS). A rectangular slit in the ground plane creates the DGS, which increases bandwidth and lessens interference between the frequency bands. The antenna’s peak gain spans all four bands with consistent radiation patterns, from 2.5 dBi to 3.8 dBi. This antenna’s small size (30 x 40 mm) makes it perfect for incorporating into wireless devices that need several connectivity choices in places with limited space. It is more effective than other comparable-sized quad-band microstrip antennas due to the creative use of L-shaped stubs and DGS, which increase the bandwidth.
