Abstract

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has revolutionized healthcare by enabling real-time data collection, monitoring, and analysis. However, the adoption of IoMT systems also introduces challenges related to data security, privacy, and scalability. Blockchain technology, with its decentralized and immutable properties, offers a promising solution to these issues, yet its integration with IoMT poses several obstacles, including high latency, computational complexity, and increased energy consumption. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of recent advancements and challenges in blockchain-based IoMT systems, highlighting research gaps such as the lack of updated datasets, high gas costs, and resource constraints. We propose strategies to address these issues and present a framework that enhances the security and scalability of IoMT systems by leveraging optimized consensus mechanisms, AI-assisted blockchain frame-works, and efficient data management techniques. Our findings suggest that while blockchain has the potential to secure IoMT systems effectively, addressing these limitations is crucial for realizing its full potential in healthcare applications.
