Abstract

This review explores how modern technology is transforming navigation for blind and visually impaired individuals, with a focus on tools that detect objects and measure distances. By harnessing advancements in imaging and machine learning, it becomes possible to turn visual data into useful feedback that supports safer and more independent movement. The review highlights how deep learning models like U-Net and YOLO are making strides in image segmentation and object detection. These technologies help users better understand their surroundings and enhance their ability to navigate unfamiliar environments confidently.

Additionally, the paper discusses the importance of image processing techniques such as initialization, denoising, and texture quantification. These methods play a key role in refining raw visual data, making it easier to interpret and use for real-world applications.

Through these advancements, assistive technologies are increasingly designed to prioritize safety and independence for visually impaired individuals. By integrating these tools into everyday life, the review envisions a future where navigation is not just easier but also more enriching, offering users the freedom to explore their world with greater confidence and autonomy.
