Abstract

This study explores how digital creativity and augmented imagination, supported by Augmented Reality (AR), can help visualize the Book of Ezekiel. The research examines how AR enhances users’ understanding of theological symbols, deepens emotional engagement, and enriches spiritual reflection. Using a qualitative approach with thematic analysis, the study investigates the design process of visual creators and captures users’ responses to interactive biblical visualizations. The results show that AR helps users understand complex prophetic symbols — like Ezekiel’s chariot and winged creatures — by turning abstract concepts into dynamic visual forms. This interactive experience strengthens memory retention and creates a closer emotional connection to the text. However, the study also identifies challenges, such as the risk of oversimplifying theological meanings and the limitations of technological access. Highly aestheticized visualizations may unintentionally reduce the depth of sacred symbolism, while users without AR-compatible devices may face barriers to participation. To address these issues, the study suggests a modular design approach that balances visual innovation with theological integrity, supported by collaboration between designers, theologians, and technology experts. Future research could explore adding virtual discussion features to foster collective reflection and creating accessible non-AR versions to reach a wider audience. Ultimately, this research contributes to the field of religious visual communication, showing how AR can bridge ancient texts with modern audiences, making spiritual encounters more engaging and immersive.
