Abstract

Digital media has become a powerful tool for transforming cultural arts education, addressing gaps in student creativity, engagement, and connection to Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA framework, this study examines how digital platforms such as gamification, video-based learning, and virtual reality enhance cultural arts education. The findings reveal that these tools can improve creativity and engagement by 25% to 45%, offering interactive and culturally rich learning experiences. Supported by educational theories like Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory and Kolb’s experiential learning cycle, the study demonstrates how digital tools act as mediators for deeper and more engaging learning. However, issues like the digital divide, limited infrastructure in rural areas, and insufficient teacher training remain significant challenges. To address these barriers, the study emphasizes the importance of targeted policies, professional development, and culturally responsive curricula. By aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4, this research provides valuable insights for fostering inclusive, equitable, and innovative education while preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
