Abstract

This study aims to identify challenges and opportunities in increasing scientific publications in Indonesian universities. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and document analysis. Research informants include lecturers, researchers, and academic officials in several universities. Data analysis uses thematic analysis techniques to identify the main patterns and themes that emerge from the data. The study results show that the main challenges are limited access to reputable international journals, lack of research funds, and high administrative burden for lecturers. In addition, there are obstacles regarding English language skills and a research culture that still needs to be stronger. The study results also show other opportunities that can be utilized, such as government programs to improve the quality of research, international cooperation, and increasing the capacity of researchers through training and workshops. This research suggests the need for more supportive policies from the government and higher education institutions, increased access to research resources, and strengthening an academic culture that encourages collaboration and innovation. By overcoming challenges and taking advantage of existing opportunities, scientific publications from universities in Indonesia can increase significantly both in terms of quantity and quality.
