- Abstract
The following report provides an overview of our management of our portfolio. We implemented two main investment strategies based on a pessimistic macroeconomic forecast. These were a quality value strategy and a quality growth strategy. We put equal emphasis on both of the strategies, allocating 40% of the portfolio to each, and the remaining 20% was reserved for any potential tactical opportunities. Overall, the portfolio depreciated, but was successful: marginally outperforming the benchmark. However, this was mostly due to the portfolio accidentally mimicking a low-volatility strategy and unexpected market events. From our time managing the portfolio, we were also able to make several key learnings. We learned how to more optimally allocate funds among securities, as well as how to efficiently allocate group roles. Most importantly though, we learned that conducting extensive research, and creating appropriate weights to avoid impulsive spending and align the portfolio with our goals is paramount to future successful investing.
