Abstract

Demands of 21st-century education require not only conceptual mastery but also a balance of cognitive, affective, social, and emotional development. A well-being approach in learning is believed to create a safe, comfortable, and meaningful environment that enhances students’ psychological well-being and active engagement. This study aims to develop and validate well-being-based learning materials on plant growth and development to strengthen students’ lifelong learning skills, particularly complex thinking, information processing, communication, collaboration, and habits of mind. The research adopts the ADDIE development model, focusing on the analysis, design, and development stages. The analysis phase includes curriculum review, student characteristics, and conceptual content. The design phase produces learning tools consisting of a teaching module, lesson plan (ATP), learning materials, and a student worksheet (LKPD), all integrated with well-being principles and the syntax of Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Validation was conducted to assess content quality, presentation, language clarity, alignment with well-being principles, and feasibility for classroom implementation. Quantitative and qualitative descriptive analyses were used to interpret the data. The results show that all well-being-based learning materials achieved very high validity: 93% for the teaching module, 96% for the lesson plan (ATP), 88% for the learning materials, and 88% for the LKPD. These findings indicate that the materials meet eligibility standards in terms of content accuracy, linguistic clarity, structural organization, and integration of well-being values. Therefore, the developed learning materials are highly valid, feasible for science instruction, and have strong potential to create positive learning experiences, foster intrinsic motivation, and strengthen 21st-century skills that support lifelong learning.
