Abstract

This research inquires strategies employed by actors in the #UsutTuntas Kanjuruhan Tragedy movement and issues built to strengthen the mass base to identify the actors, tendencies, and development of issues related to the Kanjuruhan Tragedy incident. Using qualitative methods, employing interviews and literature study techniques for data collection with actors involved in the #UsutTuntas movement of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy. The Kanjuruhan Tragedy has become a critical issue in Indonesian football and human rights. The large number of fatalities led to the emergence of a massive movement from the community to demand justice, particularly in the Batu City, Malang City and Malang Regency areas. In this case, various protests have been carried out by victims and/or victims’ families, activists and students. Until now, they have held a series of discussions and massive mass actions since the incident occurred. Findings suggested that the expansion of the movement idea by the actors involved in the movement needs to be done in order to frame the tragedy as a shared grief that transcends football supporters. In addition, internationalizing the movement is also essential to amplify its impact and achieve justice for the victims and/or the families of the victims.
