The 6th International Conference on Education and Social Sciences (ICESS 2024) was organized by Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at University of Mataram in collaboration with SEAMEO QITEP in Language in the theme, “Teaching Literacy and Practices in Diverse Contexts: Empowering Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Skills for Learners and Educators for Sustainable Development”.Within this theme, this conference aims to delve into the crucial intersection of sustainability, technology, and education. The conference was held in hybrid mode on 2–3 October 2024 in Mataram, Indonesia.

The participants of the conference came from various countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, USA, and Vietnam in five different types of presentations.We have plenary sessions that set the tone for our discussions, invited speakers’ presentations that bring the speakers’ invaluable expertise to the forefront, parallel presentations that showcase a diverse range of research, engaging workshops that provide hands-on learning experiences, and poster presentations that offer visual narratives of innovative ideas. All participants actively engage in meaningful discussions, and search for opportunities to share and acquire knowledge under the topic of Teaching and Learning, Educational Structures, Community and Society, Language and Culture, as well as Innovation and Technology.

Following the theme and topic, we invited seven keynote speakers and five invited speakers from all over the world. Our keynote speakers were Prof. Kevin Chung Kien Hoa (The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong), Prof. Levi Geir Eidhamar (University of Agder, Norway), Prof. Emi Emilia (The Education University of Indonesia, Indonesia), Prof.Andy Gao (University of NewSouthWales,Australia), Dr.Nguyen ThiMai Huu (National Foreign Languages Project–Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam), Assoc.Prof. CsillaWeninger (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), and Assoc.Prof.Noella Mackenzie (Charles Sturt University,Australia). Whereas the list of invited speakers were Prof. Kamaluddin Yusra, Ph.D (University of Mataram, Indonesia), Dr. Frank Senyo Loglo (University of Oldenburg, Germany), Dr. Isma Rosila Ismail (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia), Dr. Aminath Waseela (Maldives National University, Maldives), and Dr. Mehmet Filiz (Amasya University, Turkiye).

The committee has put in great effort to organize this conference, and it would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of its members. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has contributed to making this event a reality. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all those who have supported this conference. We also extend our deep appreciation to the presenters of the parallel sessions, representing various countries, universities, and diverse academic fields in education and social sciences. We hope this conference serves as a meaningful international platform for sharing knowledge, expertise, and experiences. Additionally, we express our gratitude to the editors, reviewers, and proofreaders for their valuable feedback and recommendations in enhancing the quality of the papers, as well as to Atlantis Press for their assistance in publishing the conference proceedings.
